K-K-K-Katy

Jeremy bought this poster for me for Christmas. He even built a frame for it since it isn't a standard size.

I love it. For a lot of reasons.

It means a lot to me because my Dad used to sing this song to me. But I also found out recently that it's written about a soldier declaring his love. And the girl in the poster has brown curly hair. Oh, and it often makes me think of Michele who would sing this to me, too.

How great is this?

You can come over and see it if you'd like. :)

Thanks, again, husband!

Claire's hair

Claire's hair is a hot topic when people meet her or see her. Especially when it's just me and her. We basically have opposite hair, a lot like my BFF Cami and I used to say in college. Cami has straight, blond hair and I definitely have dark, curly hair. Claire's hair was strawberry blond when she was born. Now it's more of a blond without the red. When you see her with me, however, our hair could not be more different. Throw in her blue eyes and she really doesn't look like me at all! She's definitely her father's daughter. Jeremy often apologizes to Claire for the fact that she looks like him. I just reassure them both that it just means that Jeremy would be a pretty girl. (Love you, honey!) Jeremy and I couldn't imagine her being any more perfect or beautiful.

I noticed something else about my sweet daughter's hair a couple days ago. First of all, it's definitely showing a little wave (yay!!!!). Secondly, it's definitely getting mullet-like. Not bad enough to cut it. Just something we're going to have to keep an eye on. :)

Play "date"

Our good friend, Cary, rescued Claire from Jeremy and I during the worst moments of a flu bug. Claire got to spend the afternoon being Winnie's shadow and flirting with Rush. Look out George P, you've got some competition for Claire!

Thanks, again, Cary!

Has this happened to you?

You're unloading your dishwasher and cleaning you kitchen, when you come across one of the worst smells EVER? It goes away for a few minutes, then you turn and it smacks you in the face?

That happened to me this morning. For a second, I thought, maybe it's the kiddo.... No way. Couldn't be. So I decide it must be the kitchen drain. Or maybe the dishwasher just didn't wash the dishes last night. Or maybe something died in the refrigerator. Then I look for the dog to see if he's the culprit. Nope. Plus he got a bath yesterday so he actually smells GOOD.

Then I pick up the kiddo. I almost fell over. Claire, I love you, but that was, for the record, the WORST diaper EVER.

Yay for solid food!

BFFs

Claire and Diane are best friends. Yes, Claire likes to chase Diane all over the house, but Diane also leads her on in this chase. They play with toys together, and Diane sits next to Claire while she finishes a bottle. Maybe Diane is sucking up so Jeremy will stop talking about getting rid of her.

The Joy of Cooking

Claire learning to eat...

I love to cook. And I love to bake. I love trying new recipes and making something great. My favorite is finding a new recipe and realizing that all the ingredients needed are already in my pantry/refrigerator/freezer.

I'm watching Julie & Julia and it reminds me about how my dream job is to work in a bakery. Currently, food is a very prevalent theme in life. I have a lot of responsibility concerning food. I'm an eating disorders therapist. I'm a mom. I'm a wife. I do love my life. However, working in a bakery just seems like it would be a lot less stressful. My cousin, Kendall, would probably disagree. :)

So I thought I would post a recipe that I've been asked to share about 20 times in the last few months. It could not be easier, and I'm pretty sure I stole it from a Weight Watchers cookbook. No, we're not on WW; it just sounded like a yummy recipe.

BQ Pork
1 pork tenderloin, cut into a few big chunks
1 cup of BQ sauce
*Throw it all in your crockpot, low for 6-8 hrs or 3-4 hrs on high.
*Shred the pork in the sauce with a fork. Serve on buns or plain.
***We ALWAYS use Sweet Baby Ray's BQ sauce. I'm sure you'll see a future post dedicated to our family's love for it. I add some ketchup, a little chili powder, and some cayenne pepper. It comes out to be around a cup total. Use whatever variation you like. I've also been known to quadruple this recipe for big crowds and it turns out perfect.
Enjoy!

Just a few from this week...

C loves this skunk! Her Gram gave this to her and she suddenly loves it. C has been carrying it around the house for days now.
This is my current favorite picture. Jeremy was trying to fix the ottoman and C was "helping".

I gave in.

We've been talking about starting a blog since before C was born. Well, she's 10 months this week so better late than never!
